CONTACT Portfolio Reviews

Sunday May 3 & Monday May 4
10am – 5pm
The Gladstone Hotel, 2nd Floor
1214 Queen St W, Toronto

Curators, directors, publishers and photo editors are brought together for two days during CONTACT to review work by emerging artists and photographers with a focus mainly on narrative, photo-based art practices, documentary, and photojournalism.

This is an important program for those with projects at advanced stages of development who are seeking opportunities for publishing and exhibiting nationally or internationally—as well as looking for guidance on conceptual approaches or career development advice.

This year there will be a series of related lectures, workshops, and a performance,  with a focus on the Photobook!

Portfolio Reviews Exhibition Award

Congratulations to this year's award winner, Josée Pedneault!

Josée will present her work in a solo exhibition at the CONTACT Gallery in January 2016.

Josée Pedneault holds an MFA in studio art from Concordia University, and since 2006 her photographs and installations have been shown in exhibitions and festivals around the world. Based in Montreal, she is the co-founder and board president of Les Territoires, and teaches photography at Concordia University. Josée’s work explores the delicate structure of human relationships, seeking to understand the invisible, yet insoluble, connections that link us to each other and to the world. Recurrent themes of attachment and detachment, transitional moments, process of adaptation, longing and uprooting, spring forth from personal experiences and observations.
